Tessa's teacakes - Mary Manners

Today sees the release of Mary Manners new book - the third in her sweet treat bakery series.

Blurb:

Tessa, the youngest Spencer sister--and the most impulsive--rushes into the Mount Ridge crisis center bent on saving her brother-in-law. She's ready to handle Brent's abductor, with or without help. What she's not ready to handle is the effect policeman, Colin Phillips, has on her. Romance is the last thing on Tessa's mind. She longs for the adventure and fast-pace of New York City, not being tied to Mount Ridge and a man who insists she shouldn't be so impetuous. After all "independent spirit" is what Tessa does best!

Colin transferred from the police force in Atlanta in order to find closure after the brutal murder of his younger sister. He wants a nice, safe future, not one filled with caring and worrying about another impulsive woman. His sister was naive and unpredictable, and while Colin is drawn to Tessa's spunk and vitality, her willingness to rush into danger scares him. No way could he cope with another devastating loss. His heart must remain closed where Tessa is concerned.

But God has His own plans--and His own way of changing hearts and cultivating love.

Review:

The third in the sweet treats series, Tessaā€™s Teacakes, is a wonderful read from its heart stopping beginning to its tear jerking end. Just as you think the story is all wrapped up, another twist comes along, sending it in another direction. Catching you up with the characters from previous stories, this one is another short story to snuggle up with on a cold night. Ms. Manners stories just get better.

Blurb:

Following the tragic, sudden death of her parents, Kate Spencer broke off her engagement from high school sweetheart Logan Daniels, just weeks before their wedding. She chose, instead, to remain in Mount Ridge, Tennessee to raise her younger sisters and help keep the family together. Now, with her sisters grown, she spends her days at family-owned Sweet Treats Bakery, hiding a wounded heart in the sweet confections she creates. Logan Daniels left town when Kate broke his heart, but now he's come home to claim what he lost four years ago, and he won't stop until he gets what he came for...Kate's kisses.

Review:

Kate's Kisses is a wonderful short read, full to bursting with love and hope (and chocolate covered cherries - the kisses of the title). Logan and Kate leap to life off the pages and literally pull you into their story, immersing you in their hopes and dreams. Coming from Ms. Manners this one had to be good, and it is. Short and sweet and just like real chocolate, leaves you wanting more.

Blurb:

Brent Peterson returns to Mount Ridge, Tennessee with a single goal-to win back Grace Spencer. He's loved her since kindergarten, and should have told her how he felt, but Dan Turner swooped in and stole Grace away before Brent had the chance. Now Grace is a widow with a young son, and while it's been three years since her husband's death, Brent isn't sure he should make his feelings known. When Brent comes around the family bakery, Grace longs to restore their friendship, but the thin gold wedding band on her finger-and memories of Dan-stand between them. Can Brent's gentle patience coax Grace to let go of her memories...and the ring, or is it time for Brent to move on alone, and leave Mount Ridge forever?

Review:

Grace's Gold continues the Sweet Treat series with the story of Grace, Kate's widowed sister. Another brilliant story from Ms. Manners, this one doesn't disappoint. Full of love and second chances, it keeps you guessing right up until the end. There is a lovely continuation of the Kate/Logan story, as like the previous one in the series, it contains all four sisters. But you donā€™t need to have read Kateā€™s Kisses, in order to enjoy this one. A story worthy of its title, this story is gold.

ā€œEscape to Whispering Creekā€ Barbara M. Britton   Thanks for having me on the blog again, Clare. Phooey Kerflooey: Three Kids And A Puppy vs The Squirrel Of The Apocalypse by Kristen Joy Wilkes

Kristen says "Once upon a time, our family of three young boys welcomed a princess into our home. A furry princess, a princess who ended up weighing more than they did, was terrified of haybales and bags of chicken feed, and refused to drink out of anything but her own special mug. Our boys were charmed by their puppy princess and asked that I write a story based on her. It took me seven years, but finally I present to you  Phooey Kerflooey ! While our own boys delighted in Princess Leia Freyjaā€™s scaredy-cat antics and princess ways, the boys in the story take a bit longer to appreciate Phooeyā€™s gifts. However, I pray that you will enjoy their journey together as they battle the squirrel of the apocalypse and search for perfect peace amidst a storm of chaos. " And I loved this one. It's gone straight back into the TBR pile. A puppy will fix everything.  A boring new house?  Boring house + puppy = adventure!    An attacking squirrel?  Evil squirrel + puppy =...
