The Curious Prayer Life of Muriel Smith - Carol Raj

One unlocked car door, one glance to the left, and suddenly impoverished retiree Muriel Smith is hurtling down the road at an alarming thirty miles per hour! Will the teenage carjacker really shoot to kill? Muriel can't die yet. Not until she's accomplished something to make her daughter proud. Not until she's seen her great-grandchild, the unborn baby her granddaughter isn't sure she wants to keep. It seems Muriel is running out of time. Especially if her survival depends on her driving skills! Muriel and her carjacker find themselves on a wild adventure that has them both falling "victim" to Muriel's curious prayer life. Amazon UK   Amazon US I LOVED this book. Yes that's loved all in capital letters.  This is an amazing story. All Muriel asked God for was someone to mow her lawn. She didn’t quite get the answer she was expecting. At least not the way she wanted it. So nice to see a story where the heroine is much older, with real aches and

In an Instant by Tracy Wainwright

The Clock is Ticking...  Julie Montgomery left for work but never arrived. Her husband, Luke, reports her disappearance, but Officer Terrence Cooper isn't convinced anything's amiss. As he looks into the case, he discovers that not only are Luke Montgomery's fears warranted, but that Julie had been hiding a dark secret.  Julie vanished in an instant. By the time Terrence unravels the truth, will it be too late to get her back? Amazon UK    Amazon US I really enjoyed this book. One of those stories that keeps you reading far later than you ought because you really need to know what happens next. Then wakes you early wondering how they are doing. With plenty of twists that I didn't see coming, this book is not to be missed.

What Do Authors Do All Day? by Tiffany Amber Stockton

What Do Authors Do All Day? It always makes me smile when I speak at an event or do any kind of author appearance, and someone approaches to ask me what it’s like being an author. Many people have this grandiose idea in their mind. Somehow, the writer gets sensationalized or elevated to this mysterious pedestal, staring into empty space while the rest of the world fades away. The reality? Despite all my best-laid plans, a typical day doesn’t contain much writing at all! Surprised to learn that? Most non-writers usually are. For the majority of authors (not the 1% who actually make a full-time living on their writing like Dean Koontz or Nora Roberts), it’s not like the “9-5” job where you leave your home, go to work, focus on that work, then return home. When you’re a writer, your job and your work intertwine with your real life. If you’re also a parent with children at home, your family is thrown into the mix as well. For me, this means waking up at 5:45 or 6am ever

Delia Latham - Facing Goliath

t's Christmas in July. Over the next week or so, I'll be sharing Christmas books. Here's one for today. Amazon UK     Amazon US Facing Goliath Delia Latham We’ve all heard the Bible story about David, a young boy who faced off against a real, flesh-and-blood giant—and won! Goliath was a giant so frightening that not one man in the Israelite army came forward to answer his taunting challenge. But David did. He stepped out in faith, God went with him (as He always will), and together they sent that monster to the ground. We face giants too, although not usually the flesh-and-blood variety. Ours are situations in our lives that just seem too hard. Too big. Too impossible. Too painful.  Too much.  But the same God who went with David onto that battlefield still stands close by today, waiting to help us face the beasts that put fear into our hearts and steal our joy. Giants come in different forms: fear, sorrow, hurt, unforgiveness, sickness, worry…a

Dove Strong by Erin Lorence

Dove Strong Blurb   Dove Strong loves God. She loves standing chin up, fists clenched when facing Satan’s attacks. But there’s one thing she doesn’t love—other people. So when this spiritually-gifted, antisocial teenager is chosen to join other believers in a trek across Satan’s territory, rattlesnakes and evil-intentioned Heathen aren’t her biggest challenges. But failure isn’t an option. In a month, the Christian Councils will decide the Reclaim, a vote on whether there’ll be a war between Christ’s and Satan’s followers to take back America. It is up to Dove, God’s messenger for peace, to reach her Council in time. Because if she doesn’t, things could get bloody. Dove Strong Extract: I smashed against the boulder’s baking contour. Sun-blinded, my eyes darted back and forth uselessly as I attempted to see any hunters. At Melody’s nudge, I shifted to the boulder’s edge and dangled my feet off while she inched the heavy-sounding shard back into its place to conceal her fam
