Echos of Blue and Gray by Mallary Mitchell

Union soldier, Ian O'Reilly, must find his brother who's been captured by Confederate forces. While Ian's company occupies New Bern, North Carolina, the town holds many dangers for him...as well as many treasured memories including those of the lovely southern belle, Olivia Coltrane, who stole his heart before the war. Ian isn't sure he'll be able to face those memories and find and free his brother.   Olivia Coltrane tries not to think about the war...the war that stripped almost everything from her: Ian, the love of her life, the lives of her parents, and her innocence. Forced by circumstance to work as a nurse to support herself and her daughter, she's surrounded by destruction and sickness every day, but the work keeps her hands and her mind busy.   When a group of Yankee soldiers comes under her care, she is devastated to find Ian among the wounded. Can their love be rekindled or does this Union sergeant have a hidden agenda that doesn't include her? ...

Step On Bride by Mallary Mitchell

Ho Ho Humbug. So much for holiday joy…  The important talk Marley Paige’s long-distance boyfriend wanted to have wasn’t to propose. Nope. He did want to share that he’d found his perfect match; it just wasn’t her. Granted, she didn’t want to marry the guy, but she had kind of oversold the fact she had a serious boyfriend to her grandmother. The word “love” may even have escaped her lips. Now, she has to own up to her oversell and ruin her family’s Christmas…or does she? When Wyatt Porter took his grandmother’s engagement ring to propose, he thought his girlfriend would say yes, which she did—before she moved on to someone else and lost the ring. So when his old classmate and nemesis steps onto his tour trolley wearing that heirloom ring, and his family assumes he and Marley are engaged, he does what any guy in his situation would do, he doesn’t correct them. And for some unknown reason Marley plays along. Sure, he can’t stand her, and she despises him, and no one would ever ...

Worst Christmas Ever by Mallary Mitchell

When I wrote this novella, I had no idea that by the time 2020 Christmas rolled around, we’d have redefined what a worst Christmas could look like. This year is going to be different. I’m not going to any Christmas gatherings. There won’t be Christmas plays to attend, or if there are plays, this year they will look a lot different. This isn’t the first pandemic and probably won’t be the last. And this year? Soon we’ll be able to say goodbye and good riddance to a year that will go down in history books as being a year of sickness and loss. But you know what so what? I don’t want to go into this most Holy of seasons thinking about what I’ve lost or what I don’t have. The group Kutlass released a beautiful song “This is Christmas” several years ago, and I quote… What is Christmas, if there never was a Savior wrapped in a manger? What is Christmas If the angels never sang glory to the newborn King. What is Christmas without Christ? So, with that in mind, what do I have? I have a God...

A Lawman for Christmas by Mallary Mitchell

Can she trust his charming smile, or is he working with the enemy? Christmas is a time for miracles, and Dessa Courtland desperately needs one. The widow of an outlaw, and with two small children and another on the way, she’s been shunned by neighbors who believe she is still consorting with outlaws. The leader of her husband’s gang has been visiting because he thinks she has a pile of his ill-gotten gains, and he’s given her until Christmas Eve to turn it over—or else. When a deputy falls down her chimney, her daughters think St. Nick has arrived early, but Dessa thinks the lawman is the answer to her prayers. Deke Elliot is on the trail of a notorious outlaw who also happens to be his uncle. Deke is sent to watch Dessa and catch his uncle, but when he is injured chasing a man off the roof of her dugout cabin, his plans go awry. He’d always thought Dessa Courtland wasn’t the type of woman to have dealings with outlaws, and after spending time with her, he’s certain she's ...

An author interview with Mallory Mitchell

Today we have a guest author who willingly agreed to do my infamous author interview :) An author interview with Mallory Mitchell How did you come up with your premise? Is there a story behind your book? How did the story evolve? Sometimes the things we search for, the things we think will make everything in our life make sense aren’t what we need to find. For those who are not familiar with this story, would you please give us the blurb? Having escaped from a bad marriage Molly has no plans to venture back into the dating world. But when Reece Flynn drives through her father’s church—literally, that is—he crashes into her life like no other man ever has. It’s crazy to think a man like Reece would be interested in a woman like her, but why would God allow her to meet him if Reece wasn’t meant for her? With his singing career in shambles, Reece Flynn relocates to Piney Mountain, North Carolina where he’s assigned a long hitch of community service. Reece is restles...
