The Portal Watchers series by Susan Lytekk

In my previous posts here Book One and here Book Two I spoke about the beginnings of the Portal Watchers.  The remaining books have now been published and wow... I loved them. It really is a heart-stopping thrill-seeker, edge of the seat ride from start to finish. Yes they are YA books. No that doesn't mean a grown woman - or man - who loves sci-fi can't read and enjoy them. They have fully rounded characters, with flaws, who mess up like we all do, but don't give up. It's not often something goes straight back into the TBR pile, but these have. Blurb: Years have passed since the Vil took Ne-tel’s twin sister, but the the Vil want Ne-tel as well as his twin. The Vil are relentless. No place is safe. Not even with family. When Ne-tel is forced to flee quickly with his uncle, a secret follower of Tel, Ne-tel avoids one kidnapping only to be pressed into service aboard a ship. The ship master is chasing sea creatures that emerged from a window of light. Has Tel been gui...

Kattya is not safe after Subja learns of this new creature. Bern, Garth, and Ne-tel realize their mammoth charge must be protected. When Bern and Kattya are separated, the two find safety in the lost country of Telantia; but their reprieve from danger is short-lived when Bern learns Garth and Ne-tel have been captured by the Vil. Portal Watchers by Susan Lytekk (book1)

Book one in an exciting new YA series, which has me hooked. Blurb : A world oppressed. An Ancient Prophecy When Garth witnesses the appearance of a portal through which emerges great flying creature, he and his friends Bern and Ne-tel do not realize this is an event long foretold. These beasts have been promised by the Creator Tel to aid his children in a time of great oppression. Queen Subja rules Telantia with cruelty and malice. She controls the masses with her unnaturally powerful servants, the Vil. But the appearance of the three eggs, and the pterosaurs which hatch from them, signals her reign over Telantia is nearing its end. But the creatures have been sent to three young men. How they stand the face of such evil? Sometimes the ordinary can accomplish the extraordinary.   Extract : The holy man paused to catch his breath. “I had a vision after you left. I am still not certain of its whole meaning. But it involved you and the eggs. What is certain, is that if you ...

There are few constants between the moment you take your first breath and the moment that you close your eyes to this world. This entire year of the world taken over by a virus and people battling people in one way or another has been proof of that. But even in the best of years, change happens. People grow up. Interests change. Careers change. Friends leave. New friends surprise us. Children bless our lives with daily change. Change is energizing and exciting. But there comes a point when change is not enough. Or it is too much! If only there were something dependable. If only friends and family were always there. One friend is always there. Jesus is always there. He is a friend that will never leave you, nor forsake you. He is a brother that is always where you need him most. He does not chang...
