“Christmas at Whispering Creek” by Barbara M. Britton

Today is my launch day for “Christmas at Whispering Creek.” Paperback fans will have to wait until December 1st.

I’m excited to share my story with the world. This novel is my first contemporary romance, and my heroine, Samantha, is a breast cancer survivor. I am a breast cancer survivor, too. Praise God! I share about my cancer journey in the back of Samantha and Cole’s story.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I’m excited that my publisher released the eBook in October.

I never dreamed about incorporating breast cancer into a romance novel, but after being contacted by two friends who had breast cancer diagnoses, I thought the idea may touch a lot of women’s lives. I have been cancer-free for several years and I am thankful for each new day God gives me. The verses in this book were ones that I read constantly throughout my treatment.

Don’t worry about the storyline. There’s enough humor and adventure to keep you laughing and tissue-free.

Book blurb:

All Samantha Williams wants to do is to use her teaching degree to instruct a classroom of second graders. But, after a breast cancer diagnosis at the age of twenty-three, and failed reconstruction surgery, Sam finds herself without a job and temporarily living with her parents. This isn't the life Sam expected. When a family friend dies and leaves Sam a house and land in Whispering Creek, Tennessee, Sam must decide if leaving Wisconsin for Southern living is in her lesson plans.

Nashville native, Cole Donoven, left his family' s electrical business to write country music. When Cole' s song-writing partner and girlfriend dumps him for a country music star, Cole abandons Nashville to hole up in Whispering Creek and compose one more song. The last thing Cole expects to find in the sleepy small town is a deceased friend, estate squabbles, and a Northern beauty. Will the chaos in Whispering Creek help create a bestselling song for Cole and possibly help him find a life-long collaborator?

Excerpt:

Samantha jogged down the porch steps and made her way to Cole’s makeshift firepit. A wide branch perched near the circle of rocks became a nice bench for Cole. A guitar case rested a fair distance from the flames. If he serenaded her tonight, she might never ever leave Whispering Creek.

Cole raised his roasting stick in the air. “These dogs are almost done. You’re just in time.”

His joyous smile made her believe he was offering her a grilled feast. When was the last time a man had been exuberant to see her? She shook the thought from her mind. The aroma of Cole’s cooked meat made her want to shove the whole stick in her mouth.

“I found an addition to our meal. Some cheese.” She rummaged in the shopping bag and held up the package of mozzarella. “I also have two water bottles to wash down dinner.”

He patted a spot on the log at his side. “I never would have guessed a gal from Wisconsin would bring cheese.” A grin curved his lips. “The more to eat, the better. Though, I’d rather be grilling ribeyes and corn.”

“Me, too.” As she sat, her knee bumped his thigh. Even through his jeans, he was muscled and solid. Strong inside and out. Her stomach flipped and not at the sight of the bubbled, slightly blackened hot dogs coming her way.

You can purchase “Christmas at Whispering Creek” on Amazon US, Amazon UK, Barnes and Noble, and wherever books are sold.
