a new book this way cometh

Remember this post? Here No? Then go read it. It has pics of Jason and Freddie from After the fire. Well.... I got offered a contract for it :) Jamie, my editor with WRP liked my changes and emailed this morning. I've filled in and sent back the pre-contract form.

Yay. I shall have to dig out my copy and refresh my memory before edits begin. It's about a girl named Freddie and a bloke called Jason. He left her 15yrs ago and is now her boss. It's also got bad guys, gun fights, heart stopping moments and death in it. But then, it's written by me so what do you expect? LOL. Its also got lots of romance and a happy ever after.

Right now my mind is full of the current WIP - about a deaf heroine, Adeline, and a cop named Nate. Based on the child, hat, lightning storm prompt from WRP this one, called all of me, has taken over my life completely. I'm dreaming it.

Yes... it has a title and is only a WIP. Unheard of for me. What's more...it has a plot. Although i now run out of plot so may have to plot more.

what else is happening. Umm R has left school!!! He's on - coughstudyleavecough - though that seems to consist of xbox, tv, food, xbox.

And i tried dying my hair. it didn't work. So back to the shops for bleach i go. Watch it go orange now. Or do I just put up with 4ins of grey roots on hair thats now way past my shoulders and half way down my back.

Tell you its a good job i don't work where i used to. The rule there was your hair wasn't allowed to touch your collar. Hmmm, even in a really high pony tail - and i'm talking from the top of my head here - my hair touches my collar. (I can reach it when i put my hand behind my back now.)

Why yes i do have a problem with capital i's. :P

okay, J due home soon. Gonna drag her to the library to rtn her well overdue library books. Then she can clean up the mess she made at breakfast. I haven't done it because as we all know M is for Mother not Maid.

CONGRATS on the new contract, Clare!! Woo-hoo! I'm happy for you.

Do you love long hair? Mine's long and I consider cutting it, but I always hated it short and despise the growing out phase. So...it keeps growing.

Again, congrats!

Thanks Dora.
And yes I love my hair long. Right now its long enough for me to touch if I put my hand behind my back. Takes hours to dry but as I don't have to wash it every day I don't mind too much.

Lioness, Mahlah's Journey. By Barbara Britton

Book Blurb: While the Israelites struggle to occupy the Promised Land of God, Mahlah bat Zelophehad is orphaned and left to care for her four sisters. But daughters of the dead are unable to inherit land, and it will take a miracle for Mahlah to obtain the means to care for her sisters and uphold the vow she made to her dying mother.

Mahlah must seek Moses, the leader of her people, and request something extraordinary—the right for a daughter to inherit her deceased father’s land. A right that will upset the ox-cart of male inheritance and cast her in the role of a rebel.

But, God is the protector of the orphan and the widow, and five orphaned daughters need His help. With God, anything is possible. Even changing man’s tradition.
Excerpt: Back and forth inside their tent, Mahlah paced. “God of Jacob, give me wisdom. Is this what You would have Your servant do? I see no other way to save my sisters and carry my family name into Canaan, Your Promised Land.” Sweat pooled above her lip. “C…

Books, books and more books

Happy New Year!

The year everyone has 2020 vision... apart from me who can't see a thing without my glasses on. And yes I know everyone thinks that, but there you go.

So this year, my aim is to talk lots about books. The ones I have written, am writing, am or have read and so on. And if I only did one post a week, it'd take over a year just to talk about my books as I have (consults sheet of paper on the desk) 59 published, or pending, and that's not including the three I'm talking about today.

Anthologies.

I have taken part in several box sets - none of which are still in print although my solo's are.
However the following three anthologies are. All available from my publisher Pelican Book Group.

Yellowstone Yondering by Kristen Joy Wilks

Releasing Today - Yellowstone Yondering by Kristen Joy Wilks
I want to start by saying that I had the privilege of an advance reader copy of this book. And it's brilliant.
My review:
I've never been to Yellowstone, in fact all I know of it comes from watching Supervolcano.  But having said that I now feel like I've been there. Kristen Wilks does an amazing job of describing the scenery that you are right there with Kayla and Alexander, the sternest park ranger I've ever come across.  The only thing that erupts in this book is tension between a rule obsessed ranger and a woman determined to break those rules so long as she gets her dog back before the bears, hot water and other wild beasts find him first. But it's not all tension, there are a good few giggles along the way. Hard to put down, this was a book I didn't want to end or put down. A real page turner from start to finish.
