Challenging Miss Valentine by Cindy K Green

Blurb:
Ella Valentine doubts she'll ever recover when her twin brother passes away in college. Four years later, living in a new city and working for a large corporation, she gets caught in a lie and saddled with a new boss who she suspects might be losing his mind. Now he has her enacting insane acts of espionage while trying to catch the culprit who has embezzled money from their company. If it wasn't for his deep brown eyes and lazy smile she just might quit. Is this God's plan for her life? She isn't even sure who she is anymore without her twin and the way things are going she just might end up in the loony bin.

Charles "Charlie" Murray II may be the heir presumptive to his father's industrial dynasty, but all he really wants is to create--be it drawings or a marketing campaign. When he's summoned to the home office to take over the position of CFO, he discovers his new assistant is the same woman who passed him a phony phone number in a diner the previous weekend. If he can figure out who's been stealing from the company, he just might attain the position of his dreams or will he sacrifice it all to be with Ella.

Reader Reviews:
ā€œA Charming Comedy!ā€

ā€œDelightful Read!ā€

ā€œThis is a quick easy read will lots of fun twists and turns.ā€

ā€œI was drawn into this comedy from the very beginning. The characters quickly become quite real to me.ā€

ā€œWhat fun reading about Ella and Charlie and their sometimes rocky and always hilarious road to realizing their love for each other.ā€

 Excerpt:

Taking a wobbly second step back, Ellaā€™s heel slid on the slick tile flooring of the diner. Her feet flew out from under her, and she landed down on her backside in a matter of seconds. This couldnā€™t have been more embarrassing if sheā€™d planned in every detail the best way to make a total fool of herself in front of a complete stranger. Then she connected with his amazing eyes as he looked down at her.
ā€œAre you okay?ā€ He offered her a hand up, but she could tell he held back a smile.
Great! He thought she was as much of a klutz as she did.
ā€œIā€™m fine.ā€ With his help, she came to her feet. Then she brushed off the back of her black dress pants.
ā€œAre you sure?ā€ His voice was as dreamy as the rest of himā€”low and smooth with just a trace of teasing. ā€œMaybe I should check your eyes for a concussion.ā€ His dark eyes danced with his restrained laughter.
ā€œAre you a doctor?ā€ She played along.
ā€œNo, I just always see them do that on TV.ā€ He grinned. ā€œHere.ā€ In his hand, he held a packet of sweetener. ā€œYou wanted some of these, right?ā€ His gaze wasnā€™t mocking, as sheā€™d thought earlier. It was more like curious and amused.

Escape to Whispering Creek by Barbara M Britton

ā€œEscape to Whispering Creekā€ Barbara M. Britton   Thanks for having me on the blog again, Clare. Today is my launch day for ā€œEscape to Whispering Creek.ā€ Paperback fans will have to wait until October 31 st  to get their hands on Emma and Wadeā€™s story. Readers will be able to head back to my Tennessee town with Emma. When Emmaā€™s life implodes, she drives to see her bestie Sam in Whispering Creek. Emma hopes to get a job and make some money, but she never expects to fall in love with grumpy Wade. Samantha and Cole from ā€œChristmas at Whispering Creekā€ return in this story, but ā€œEscapeā€ can be read as a standalone novel.   Book blurb: Emma Uranova enjoys her office job until her boss disappears with the investors' money. To avoid the media storm and false accusations, Emma flees to Whispering Creek, Tennessee to live on her best friend' s secluded property. Phooey Kerflooey: Three Kids And A Puppy vs The Squirrel Of The Apocalypse by Kristen Joy Wilkes

Kristen says "Once upon a time, our family of three young boys welcomed a princess into our home. A furry princess, a princess who ended up weighing more than they did, was terrified of haybales and bags of chicken feed, and refused to drink out of anything but her own special mug. Our boys were charmed by their puppy princess and asked that I write a story based on her. It took me seven years, but finally I present to you  Phooey Kerflooey ! While our own boys delighted in Princess Leia Freyjaā€™s scaredy-cat antics and princess ways, the boys in the story take a bit longer to appreciate Phooeyā€™s gifts. However, I pray that you will enjoy their journey together as they battle the squirrel of the apocalypse and search for perfect peace amidst a storm of chaos. " And I loved this one. It's gone straight back into the TBR pile. A puppy will fix everything.  A boring new house?  Boring house + puppy = adventure!    An attacking squirrel?  Evil squirrel + puppy =...
