When she meets Kyle Stevens, he turns her world upside-down. Heā€™s as exasperating as he is appealing. How can Holly make sense of her awakening feelings when sheā€™s so unsure of Kyle? His voice is familiar, heā€™s left-handed, and he wears the serial killerā€™s cologne. Who is heā€¦really? As Holly struggles to restore her damaged faith, she must find the strength to trust once againā€”in Kyle and in God.

Kyle Stevens isnā€™t ready to live again. Racked by guilt, heā€™s afraid to feel. His sole focus is finding the Headley Cross serial killerā€”his girlfriend's murderer. That is, until he meets Holly Carmichael. Heā€™s drawn to Holly, vows to protect her where he failed to protect his former love. But Holly makes him feel again, emotions quickly morphing into something much more dangerous to his hardened heart.

When the serial killer returns to finish what he started, only a miracle can save themā€¦but then, it's the Season for Miracles.

Kyleā€™s voice came from a long way off, and Holly had to concentrate to hear it. ā€œIā€™m sorry, Holly. Heā€™s normally pretty well behaved, but heā€™s never seen snow before and is a little over-excited. Plus he was on his own all day yesterday. Are you all right?ā€

Holly nodded. The headache upped a notch. That was a stupid thing to do.

ā€œCan you stand?ā€

She moved her head a little as Kyle helped her to her feet. She brushed the snow from her coat and tried to focus on the man. His hat, pulled down over his ears, hid his hair. Her head pounded, stars danced in front of her eyes, and it was all she could do to stand upright.

I want to sit down. Please, let me sit down. The words echoed in her mind, but she wasnā€™t sure sheā€™d said them aloud. He didnā€™t respond.

His deep voice reverberated as he pulled off his glove. ā€œAre you sure youā€™re all right?ā€

Holly nodded for a third time. She had a huge lump in her throat and she struggled to breathe. Her legs didnā€™t want to hold up, but she didnā€™t want a fuss. Fingers tingled inside her glove where he held her hand. His grip kept her upright.

Kyleā€™s other hand cradled the back of her head. Holly winced as he found and examined the lump. His touch increased the pain by a magnitude of five. Kyle checked his fingers and relief crossed his face at the lack of blood. ā€œHolly? Please, say something. Otherwise Iā€™ll have to assume Orion ate your tongue.ā€

Phooey Kerflooey: Three Kids And A Puppy vs The Squirrel Of The Apocalypse by Kristen Joy Wilkes

Kristen says "Once upon a time, our family of three young boys welcomed a princess into our home. A furry princess, a princess who ended up weighing more than they did, was terrified of haybales and bags of chicken feed, and refused to drink out of anything but her own special mug. Our boys were charmed by their puppy princess and asked that I write a story based on her. It took me seven years, but finally I present to you  Phooey Kerflooey ! While our own boys delighted in Princess Leia Freyjaā€™s scaredy-cat antics and princess ways, the boys in the story take a bit longer to appreciate Phooeyā€™s gifts. However, I pray that you will enjoy their journey together as they battle the squirrel of the apocalypse and search for perfect peace amidst a storm of chaos. " And I loved this one. It's gone straight back into the TBR pile. A puppy will fix everything.  A boring new house?  Boring house + puppy = adventure!    An attacking squirrel?  Evil squirrel + puppy =...
