Review: Book of Aleth 2 - Revelation by Michael Duncan

Revelation: Book of Aleth, Part Two
Blurb:

"We have lost much of what we once were."

A new alliance...After escaping the dwarvish prison in Brekken Dahl, Aaron, Lorik, and two dwarves continue their quest to recover the Book of Aleth, now fallen into enemy hands. To avoid Therion's forces, the band forges deep under the shattered hills into long-forgotten passages, where foul creatures wait in the darkness.

An ancient prophecy...Although each step is fraught with danger and betrayal, the mission must succeed. The travelers encounter beings, both friend and foe, straight from myth and legend. And when a member of the group falls, a new ally of a race thought extinct joins the quest. In the ruins of Kellen Dahl, a discovery is made...to restore hope and a future a new protector must rise.

Review:

Having read the first book, I was very keen to read the second part of Michael Duncan's story, and it didn't disappoint. Picking up from where book one left off, this one continues Aaron's search for the Book of Aleth and the truth. With everything he had been told from childhood, turned on its head, Aaron's journey is as much one of faith and discovery as anything else.

Full of elves, dwarves and all the elements you'd normally find in fantasy, Mr. Duncan has woven a modern day Tolkien-esque story that I couldn't put down. Hooked from the first word, easily visualised each word leaps from the page with such clarity I didn't want it to end.

If you love Tolkien you really don't want to miss this one.

Great review! The story sounds amazing, Michael. I still intend to read both books. (I love Tolkien, by the way...) I've already said once today - and it becomes more true now - that if I ever get to a point in life where I can actually sit back, relax and read, my TBR pile is going to tower over my head. :) But at least I have some wonderful reading to look forward to.

Thanks for stopping by :)
The story is amazing. It takes me a while to read as I only tend to read when I'm not writing which is on a Sunday or just before I go to bed each night.
